Everything you want to know

Our breathwork sessions are carefully structured and designed to guide you into a sacred space through a repetitive conscious breathing pattern.
We start the session by discussing your intention for the session, any specific blocks you want to work through and questions you may have. You will learn about the powerful effects of breathwork and the different kinds of feelings, thoughts and sensations that can arise during your breathwork session, and how to navigate them. You will be shown the breathing technique you will be using and you will be led through a grounding exercise to bring you into your body and prepare you for the breathwork.
Once you are grounded, you will start consciously breathing to a curated playlist that is designed to deepen and enhance your experience. As you breathe, your nervous system will relax and your brain will start to shift from the Beta brainwave frequency into Alpha-Theta frequencies. These latter brainwave frequencies are associated with subconscious and dreamlike states and are related to heightened creativity, spontaneous healing, spiritual connection, and intuitive feelings.
At the close the session you will have some time to integrate your experience and come back into the present. It’s important to allow yourself time after the session to relax and take it easy.

In a couple’s breathwork session there are two parts: a sharing exercise and breathwork.
First, you and your partner will be guided through an exercise that helps to address any blocks present in the relationship and increase love and intimacy.
After the sharing exercise, you are ready to start breathing! We do a circular connected style of breathing which helps you to connect with your emotions and release heavy and stagnant emotions.
When there are recurring blockages or issues in a relationship trying to talk it out can sometimes feel like going around in circles. With breathwork we can work at the deeper level to actually shift the stuck emotional energy that is blocking true intimacy and understanding in our relationship, thus leading to a strengthened bond.
-
The type of breathwork we will be practicing is known as conscious connected breathwork (CCB). This involves breathing either through the nose or mouth and connecting each breath so that there are no pauses between the breaths. This a powerful, healing style of breathwork that is about processing and releasing the trapped and stagnant energies that have accumulated over the course of our lives and become stored in the cells of bodies. These energies create blocks and obstacles in our conscious reality.
When practiced correctly, CCB uses diaphragmatic breathing which stimulates the vagus nerve, and activates the parasympathetic nervous system. This induces a deep state of relaxation within the body: our muscles relax and our heart rates slows. The vagus nerve also sends messages to the brain causing feelings of peacefulness.
It’s important to highlight that breathwork is about SELF-healing. Nothing is being done ‘to’ you, rather you are using the breath to activate your body’s own innate capacity for healing and repair.

As a trained breathwork teacher, I am here to ensure your breathwork experience will be safe, smooth and effective. Whether you’re completely new to breathwork, have tried a Wim-Hof tutorial or pranayama breathing in your yoga class, or perhaps practice mindful breathing, having support is super important if you are wanting to deep-dive into longer, transformative breathwork sessions.
In breathwork we are activating and releasing intense energies including unresolved pain and trauma, and having personalised guidance and support means that:
⏤ You will learn the proper breathing technique so that you can access deeper states of consciousness without putting unnecessary stress or tension on your body
⏤ You will understand the physical, emotional and mental effects you can experience during breathwork and how to navigate these effects so that you don’t become overwhelmed once you start breathing
⏤ You will be able to move beyond the barrier of internal resistance (the voice that tells you to give up or stop when you shift outside of your comfort zone) and connect with the deeper part of you
⏤ You will be able to relax and let go knowing you are supported and your only job is to surrender and focus on your breathing
-
In breathwork we are manipulating and moving energy through our bodies using our breath which can bring strong emotions to the surface. This makes sense when we understand emotions are simply ‘energy in motion’. It is common, and natural, to experience spontaneous tears, laughter, anger, and feelings of bliss during a breathwork session. All these emotional expressions are positive as indicate we are clearing past traumas and blockages from the body.
Although it can be intense, you do not need to be scared about being overwhelmed or feeling out of control during your breathwork session as you will be guided and supported through the whole process, from start to end.
-
⏤ Firstly, ensure you are well-rested. Doing a longer breathwork when we are sleep-deprived can be challenging as we may get sleepy and drift off!
⏤ Have a quiet, comfortable space where you won’t be disturbed
⏤ While breathing you will be lying down on either a yoga mat or couch. Prepare a blanket, a flat pillow or cushion (you can have one for your head and one for underneath your knees) and eye mask (optional)
⏤ Have a journal/notebook and pen near you
⏤ Make sure not to eat a heavy meal or drink too much water right before the session
⏤ Have a good internet connection and a good speaker or headphones for the best sound experience
⏤ If you are on your period, ideally wait until you have finished before doing a session (when we are bleeding there is already a release taking place, so there is no need to push for more of a release)
A note from Kat –
I have a confession to make.
When I tried my first breathwork class back in 2019 in a studio in North London, I was underwhelmed. People around me were crying and seemed to be experiencing deep emotional releases and yet there I was, lying flat on my back breathing as instructed and not feeling much of anything really.
Maybe I just don’t have anything to release? I remember thinking to myself at the end of the class, feeling slightly disappointed at how non-climatic the experience was.
Well it turns out that wasn’t true.
I, like every other person on this planet, was carrying a lot of unexpressed emotions that had accumulated throughout my life and that were weighing me down and blocking me from my inner joy. I wanted to experience emotional release and healing, but I had to feel safe enough first. And in this case, a group class surrounded by strangers (and only minimal guidance and support from the teacher) did not create the feeling of safety I needed to let go of my defences and go deep within.
A few years later, still feeling pulled by breathwork, I signed up for breathwork teacher training not fully knowing what to expect yet wanting to learn everything I could.
During my training I was able to experience the real power of breathwork and feel the inner shift I had been longing to feel when I first tried it. I was also able to create a sacred space for others that allowed for access to deeper states of consciousness (which we are led to believe we can only reach through taking psychedelics or having years of meditation experience).
What I look forward to offering you in these sessions is support, structure and safety so that you feel comfortable enough to relax, go deep within and use your breath to heal and reconnect with yourself.
The feeling you get from breathwork can be hard to describe but it is potent and something everyone needs to experience for themselves. If you feel the pull, I invite you to book a breathwork journey of your choice so that we can work together and you can experience the change and clarity that you are longing to feel.

How to choose the right breathwork journey for you:
-
For those who are new to transformative breathwork or somatic healing work, a Breathwork + Mentorship package is recommended. This will give you the opportunity to experience several guided sessions of breathwork with enough time in between each session so that you can properly integrate the effects of the breathwork.
You will benefit from having support and guidance through the whole process so that you can unpack whatever is coming up for you and put into action the insights, clarity and emotional shifts that you experience through the practice.
It’s worth noting that if you are used to living from your head (I definitely fell into this category!), it is especially beneficial to commit to multiple sessions of breathwork as it can take some time to come out of the mind and into our bodies, and to surrender to the process.
-
With each session of breathwork you are reaching deeper layers of your being, releasing the stuck energy that has become stored in your body throughout your life, and rebalancing your nervous system to create the capacity you need to experience greater inner AND outer expansion.
If you are in a place where you feel that the things in your life are flowing with ease and you feel emotionally unblocked but perhaps you want to experience greater personal power, creativity or clarity, a one-off session can be an amazing way to do just that.
We offer both individual sessions and sessions for couples. A single session can also be great for follow ups, check-ins and additional integration after packages are complete.
On the other hand, if there is an area in your life (or multiple areas) where you feel stuck or stagnant, you find it hard to connect with and express your deeper feelings and you want to experience real change and uplevelling, then a breathwork package can provide you with support and transformation that you are seeking.
-
Many people fall in love with breathwork after trying it and experiencing how powerful it is, and want to be able to practice it on their own. If this is the case for you, our 12-week package will allow you to become more familiar and experienced with breathwork so that by the end of it you can start to comfortably practice this deep type of breathwork on your own.
After six sessions the uncomfortable physical sensations that you experience as a part of the breathwork practice, such as tetany, usually go away (although note it may take longer for some people) and you learn how to navigate through the intense emotions that tend to arise during the practice without becoming overwhelmed and not knowing how to integrate them.

"I came to Kat with years of experience in a variety of meditation and breathing practices from martial arts and yoga. Kat carefully gauged my level of comfort and experience before guiding me through a fairly intense breathwork practice which we agreed that I was ready for. Kat was a sensitive and attentive instructor as she guided me through the practice. If regular meditation could be described as a slow drip I would describe my practice with Kat as more like drinking from the fire hose. After 45 minutes of work with Kat, I found myself in a similar state, with a similar number of insights and reflections as I had experienced previously from a week of consistent yoga practice. The breathwork helped me to confront a few issues in my own thinking and my relationships that I was avoiding. Kat gently encouraged me to jot down my insights afterwards. These notes have proven to be a good touchstone for subsequent work that has helped me to identify and resolve some past trauma and improve my communication in some key relationships.”

“My breathwork session with Kat was every bit as transformative as I had hoped it would be. My intention was to release blocked emotions and Kat guided me to a state where I felt completely altered and timeless. I felt a strong energy in my chest and once I cried it out, I felt clear minded for a whole month following the session. Kat provided the perfect guidance and support when it was needed. She is an incredibly talented guide and has a grounded and calming energy that made me feel safe and cared for the entire session. I would recommend a session with Kat for those who are looking for real change!”

"I had a peaceful yet deep experience in my breathing session with Kat. The session gave me an outlet for feelings that were trapped inside and also an escape from a busy lifestyle as a mum of two. I learnt how breathing can help in stressful situations and also how to take better care of myself. I recommend a session for anyone who want to find peace within themselves and to learn more about themselves."

"As someone who has reaped the benefits of meditation, I was interested to see how a focused breathwork session would be different and how it would compliment the inner spiritual work. And I was positively surprised at how different it really was. My session with Kat was a transformational one, the guided, concentrated, deep-breathing session was a great way to truly clear the mind of any negative energy and reduce any anxieties. I felt all the unwanted energy leave my body and my breathing afterwards felt crisper and cleaner. I felt the benefits for days after and can’t wait to do it again!"

“I had my first ever out-of-body experience with Kat’s guidance in breathwork, and I loved it. I don’t meditate, do yoga or any other form of spiritual or mindful rituals. Despite being curious about these things I never really felt like I mastered any of them - until I tried this form of active meditation with Kat. This breathwork session was the first time I ever experienced coming back from what I can only call a trance. Signing up for the session I wasn’t sure what to expect but I was pretty sure it would feel like a long time. It didn’t. A few minutes into the session I was 'out'. One hour later Kat brought me back with a gentle voice and I found myself with dopamine and endorphins rushing through my veins, not believing how long I’d been 'away' for. I felt simply blissful for the rest of the day. I highly recommend trying a breathwork session, and Kat does a really great job ensuring it feels safe and sound.”
