Keep Showing Up: An Exercise to Help You Move Through Self-Doubt

If you’ve seen the recent Youtube video I did on the three core principles of manifestation then you’ll know that the third principle of manifesting is to keep showing up - meaning to stay consistent in our focus and actions towards what we want.

Our highest vision of life doesn’t just materialise overnight; it takes time. It’s when we’re in that space of knowing what we want and taking action towards it yet it’s feeling like *crickets* or as though things are not happening as fast as we’d like, that it’s most easy to get discouraged, let self-doubt take over and want to quit.

So it’s vital then that we have the right things in our toolbox to get us back on track and to deepen our sense of confidence and trust when those self-defeating thoughts and feelings arise.

Here is an exercise that you can add to your personal toolbox to help you banish doubts and empower you to keep showing up:

Imagine you have realised that goal or vision of life that you’re wanting. Maybe it’s a few years down the line and you have the partner and family that you’ve been yearning for, maybe your business has taken off and you’re regularly hosting booked-out workshops and being asked to speak at exciting events, or you’ve overcome your health issues and now wake up each day feeling completely balanced and rested with energy for all your favourite activities. 

Don’t be stingy with yourself! Really take the time to imagine the details of this life the future you is living and allow yourself to feel the excitement, happiness and aliveness that this future-reality evokes in you. 

Now imagine your future self is asked to give your present-day self some advice. They are speaking with complete clarity and conviction. What is the future-you saying? Write down the specific words and, for the most impact, record yourself saying these words aloud so you can play it back later. 

  • What does the future-you want your present self to know? 

  • What wisdom and insights does the future-you have to share about how they got to where they are?

  • What does the future-you tell you about how they showed up each day (their attitude, intention, focus)?

  • Are there any words of comfort or reassurance your future-you has to share?

Do this exercise after some meditation or breathwork to allow you to really get in the zone and channel what wants to come through. And remember, your blessings lie on the other side of your fear and doubt, bouts of stagnation and resistance are part of the process, .
